Alsip Park District Plans Week Of Fun At Sprayfari Aquatic Center

ALSIP, IL—Grab your kids and get ready to have a blast at Alsip's Sprayfari Aquatic Park, 11930 S Kostner Ave., for a week of special events from July 15 through July 21. Sprayfari Week features a Big Splash contest, bingo, relay races against the lifeguards, a cardboard boat race,an all-ages coloring contest and DJ dance party, to name a few.

Registration is open for the third annual Cardboard Boat Race from 5 to 6 p.m. on July 19, followed by a DJ dance party from 6 to 9 p.m.. Get busy planning, building and decorating a boat that looks like something you’d imagine seeing on a jungle safari. All boats and oars must be made out of cardboard and duct tape ONLY. No paint is allowed. Boats should have seating capacity for 1-2 people. Boaters will launch their crafts and paddle to the winning side. Pre-registration is required at Apollo Recreation Center, 12521 S Kostner Ave. before July 12.

The Alsip Park District has a whole week of watery fun planned, including:

July 15—Bingo at the pool, 1 and 7 p.m. Win a Sno-Cone.
July 16—Deck Art Day. Beautify the deck from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Chalk will be provided.
July 17—Safari Summer Mix-Up during one of four adult swim tings. Show off your swimming skills with fun, water-based competitions, including swimming races, big splash contest, relay and noodle races against the lifeguards.
July 18—Free Raffle Day. Win treats from the concession stand during per each adult swim period. A bucket of summer fun will be raffled off at 7 p.m.
July 19—Cardboard Boat Race, 5 to 6 p.m., followed by a DJ dance party from 6 to 9 p.m.
July 20—Luau Day at the Pool, featuring craft and coloring for all ages, great music and food specials at the concession stand.
July 21—Sprayfari’s Ice Cream Float Sunday. Get a scoop of vanilla ice cream for $1.
