Alsip Police Collecting Donations For Hurricane Florence Victims

ALSIP, IL -- The Alsip Police Department will be collecting items for residents of the Carolinas as they recover from Hurricane Florence. Residents may drop off donated items or fuel cards at Alsip police station, 4500 W. 123rd St. Tens of thousands of North Carolina and South Carolina residents who have lost their homes or are in temporary housing and shelters waiting to see what's left of their homes.

First responders and relief organizations are NOT accepting such items as toys, dishes, or furniture at this time. However, suggested donations include:

• Personal care items (toothbrushes/toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, razors, deodorants, tampons/pads, body lotion, adult diapers, sunscreen, chapstick, hand sanitizer)
• Cleaning supplies (bleach, disinfectant wipes, sponges, buckets)
• Baby needs (diapers, wipes, baby formula, baby food)
• Pet supplies (leashes, collars, bowls, pet food, pet shampoo)
• Food (non-perishable, ready-to-eat, including snack crackers, granola bars, nuts, dried fruit, applesauce, fruit cups, canned goods, water)
• Condiments (ketchup, mustard, honey, peanut butter, jelly, pickles, relish)
• Clothes (gently used clothing, socks (new), underwear (new), shoes, towels)
• Miscellaneous (batteries, solar power phone chargers, tools, work gloves, masks (N95), First Aid items, garbage bags, tarps, cots, totes to organize, blankets (new), pillows (new), sleeping bags (new)

Donations may be dropped off through Friday, Sept. 21. All donations will be delivered to the affected areas by members of Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command’s Class #446, departing on Sunday.
