Alsip Police Department Hosting Food Drive To Help Needy Families

ALSIP, IL —As some local families continue to deal with a lack of food as they grapple with the uncertainties of the coronavirus pandemic, the Alsip Police Department is collecting food that will be donated to local houses of worship and food pantries.

The police department is collecting non-perishable food that can be dropped off in the large blue container that is located across from the Village Clerk’s office at the village hall. Food can be dropped off during regular business hours.

According to a department spokesperson, Alsip Police officials reached out to local churches and food pantries to determine whether local agencies could use more food to distribute to local families who may be struggling to keep food on the table during the pandemic when may have faced cuts in work and salary.

After receiving word that those agencies could indeed use more food to distribute, the police department started the local drive. All donations will be kept local to assist those in need in conjunction with churches and the food pantries that are serving the Alsip community.
