ALSIP, IL -- An Alsip man did not keep accurate records for his place of employment as required by the Illinois Sex Offender Registration Act, prosecutors said. Antonio Taylor, 43, appeared before Cook County Judge Donald Havis on a felony charge of failure to register. Taylor is classified as a sexual predator, according to state records.

Alsip police were contacted by the Illinois State Police Sex Offender Unit on May 23 regarding Taylor allegedly going out of state without updating his registration. Officers went to Taylor’s address in the 3600 block of West 123rd Place. The prosecutor said Taylor’s father told them his son was out of state visiting relatives. Police went back to Taylor’s several days later, after learning that Taylor was no longer employed at the business on his registration, according to the charges.

Taylor went to the Alsip police station when he returned from his trip. He allegedly told police that he stopped working for his former employer last December. The assistant public defender told the judge that Taylor still lives at the Alsip address on his registration. He said Taylor’s father encouraged his son to straighten the situation out with police when Taylor returned from his trip.
