Attempted Child Luring Under Investigation in Alsip
Alsip police investigate child luring attempt on May 1 near Stony Creek Elementary School.

ALSIP, IL -- Police are investigating a reported attempted child luring that happened Monday afternoon near Stony Creek Elementary School in Alsip.
A male student was walking home around 2:45 p.m. May 1 near the school in the 11700 block of South Kolin Avenue, police said. A man asked the student if he needed a ride. When the student continued walking the driver got out of the car and asked the student a second time if he wanted a lift.
When the student did not respond, the man got into his car and left the area. The student told his parents what happened, who immediately contacted the Alsip Police Department.

The driver was described as male black in his thirties, about 6-foot-1-inch, with short hair. Police said he was driving a red Audi. School officials also sent a letter to parents notifying them what happened. The time and date of the incident in the letter to parents conflicted with information proved by police.
Residents are asked to be aware of the situation and alert their neighbors. Police also residents to call 911 to report any suspicious persons, vehicles or activity in their neighborhoods. Do not let children walk or play alone. Identify safe havens along your child’s route between home and school, such as businesses or trusted neighborhoods. Teach children to be aware of their surroundings.
