Controlled Burn Set For Thursday At Commissioners Park
The Alsip Fire Department will be conducting a controlled burn Aug. 1 at Commissioners Park, pending weather conditions.

ALSIP, IL—A controlled burn at Commissioners Park in Alsip is set for Aug. 1, pending weather conditions. The burn is expected to last about a day and will be conducted by the Alsip Fire Department.
The burn will take place around the pond in Commissioners Park, 12600 S. Kedzie Ave. It is intended to reduce invasive vegetation around the pond’s perimeter, as well as provide training for Alsip firefighters.
According to the fire department, the controlled burn will be an orderly event in accordance with Illinois EPA guidelines. Residents may see smoke on the day of the burn, which may linger and drift in the air for several days. The fire department will remain on the scene until the fire is declared out.

Residents can expect to see firefighters and equipment working in the area. The fire department asks that residents are asked to stay away from the fire and firefighters.
