Crestwood Cops and Illinois Truckers Collecting Supplies for Hurricane Victims

Crestwood Police Department and Illinois Trucking Association collecting supplies for hurricane victims on Sept. 12.

CRESTWOOD, IL -- Big-hearted Crestwood cops are teaming up with the Illinois Trucking Association to collect donations to be delivered to disaster stricken areas in Texas, and if needed, those in the path of Hurricane Irma along the Florida coast. The ITA will have a truck at the Crestwood Police Department located at 13840 S Cicero Ave, Crestwood. Area residents are encouraged to drop off donated supplies from 3 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 12.

Cops and truckers are asking the community to help support families who have lost everything and need help to get back on their feet. Suggested donated items include:

  • 5-gal. Buckets
  • Baby diapers
  • Baby formula
  • Baby wipes
  • Batteries
  • Bibles
  • Bleach
  • Brooms
  • Black contractor-type trash bags
  • Dog and cat food
  • Face (dust) masks
  • Fans
  • Flashlights
  • Hammers
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Ladders
  • Laundry detergent
  • Mosquito repellant
  • Nails,
  • Paper towels
  • Toothpaste
  • Sanitary pads/tampons
  • Shampoo and conditioner
  • Bath soap
  • Deodorant
  • Portable lights
  • Rubber gloves
  • Shop rags
  • Shop vacs
  • Shovels
  • Sponges
  • Towels
  • Blankets, pillows, sheets
  • Utility knives

Those who want to make donations may want to consider organizing their class, workplace or church to bring in supplies and drop them off on Sept. 12. For more information about the supply drive, visit the Donations for Texas Facebook page.
