Former Alsip Man Molests 15-Year-Old Sister-In-Law: Prosecutor
Abuse happened in 2015 after day at the beach when man was living in Alsip, prosecutor said.

ALSIP, IL -- A former Alsip man is accused of molesting his teen sister-in-law following a trip to the beach in 2015. Prosecutors said the alleged incident occurred in Alsip when the man was 31 and the teen was 15.
Jose Bonales, now 33, of Matteson, appeared before Cook County Judge Donald Havis on a charge of criminal sexual assault. Prosecutors said that Bonales took his 15-year-old sister-in-law and his own children to the beach on Aug. 23, 2015. After the outing, Bonales, his sister-in-law and children went back to his Alsip apartment.
The teen slept in Bonales’s bedroom, while Bonales and his children slept in the living room. During the night, the girl woke up to find Bonales touching her on top of her underwear, the prosecutor said.

She went back to sleep only to wake up again and find that Bonales had allegedly removed her shorts and underwear. The prosecutor said that after continued physical sexual advances, she told Bonales to stop. The teen could not find her clothing, so she put on sweatpants. Bonales allegedly made her promise not to tell anyone about the encounter.
The prosecutor said the teen confided in a minor cousin about the abuse in September 2015. About a year later, the teen told her mother, who contacted Alsip police. Bonales was arrested on June 4.

The assistant public defender told the judge he had a problem with the amount of time that had passed before charges were filed against the defendant or if an actual outcry was made by the teen.
Bail was set at $75,000. Bonales is due back in court June 27 in Bridgeview.
