Good Deed Repaid With Camera Theft: Prosecutor
Alsip man was trying to reach out and help homeless man by letting him sleep overnight on his couch, prosecutor said.

ALSIP, IL -- An unemployed laborer was charged with theft after he allegedly stole a camera from another man who let him spend the night on his couch.
Alsip police investigated a theft that occurred on Nov. 26 in the 5500 block of West 127th Street. According to the charges, the Alsip man tried to reach out to 24-year-old Jordan Lacy because he thought Lacy was homeless.
After allowing Lacy to sleep on his couch overnight, the man discovered that his $3,000 camera was missing, the prosecutor said.

The man called around to various pawn shops and learned that someone came in attempting to pawn a camera and contacted police. Alsip police went to the pawn shop in Chicago a few days later and identified Lacy as the man who allegedly tried to pawn the camera.
The assistant public defender told the judge that Lacy is not homeless but living in his deceased grandfather’s house. Lacy is an unemployed laborer and a graduate of Richards High School.

Bail was set at $10,000. Lacy’s next court hearing is Jan. 18.
