Bail Set At $20,000 For Alsip Man Targeted In Search Warrant

"I wouldn't have a problem releasing him on an I-bond

ALSIP, IL -- A Cook County judge would not release an Alsip man on an I-bond, who was the subject of a search warrant where police claimed to find heroin and a loaded gun. Thomas Howard, 26, appeared Friday afternoon before Judge Michael Kane for a bond hearing. Howard is facing felony charges for manufacture/delivery and possession of a controlled substance. Howard is also charged with a misdemeanor possession of a firearm without a FOID.

Police raided Brown’s home Thursday afternoon in the 12000 block of Kildare Avenue. Brown was at home at the time of raid. The prosecutor said Alsip police found 7.5 grams of suspected heroin, as well as packaging materials and additives commonly used to sell heroin. Police also turned up a loaded Davis .380 handgun, for which he did not have a FOID card, the prosecutor said.

“This is a misdemeanor offense,” the assistant public defender argued.

“I would see it your way if a gun wasn’t involved,” Kane said before setting bail at $20,000.

Brown is due back in court May 10 in Bridgeview. Although Alsip police said in a news release that cannabis was also found, it was not mentioned during Brown's bond hearing.
