Hundreds Pay Last Respects To Slain Soccer Coach

Hundreds of residents turn out to say goodbye to popular soccer coach Bill Dolehide, who was fatally shot in traffic driving home from work.

CRESTWOOD, IL -- Hundred lined up to pay their last respects to William "Bill" Dolehide, a popular soccer coach, who was randomly shot driving home from work on March 7. A large American flag waved heavily in the wind from an extended ladder on a fire truck in front of the Crestwood Recreation and Wellness Center. Flowers lined the front of the gymnasium inside the recreation center, amid pictures of Dolehide throughout his life. Visitors were asked to sign condolence books.

Neighbors, former players, friends and strangers stretched out of the gymnasium at the Crestwood Recreation and Wellness Center on Friday evening. The steady stream of people coming to pay their last respects continued throughout the evening.

Mass will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 17, at Incarnation Catholic Church, 5757 W 127th St., Palos Heights. Friends started a GoFundMe campaign which has already raised $50,000. Monies raised will go toward Dolehide's children's education. Visit the Dolehide Family Fund to make a donation.
