Large Quantity of Pot, Ecstasy and Glock Found In Traffic Stop

Chicago man was stopped for lane violation when Alsip police found large quantity of pot, ecstasy and a gun in his car, prosecutor said.

ALSIP, IL -- A Chicago man driving erratically through Alsip was arrested after police found large quantities of cannabis, ecstasy, ammo, a multitude of small plastic baggies and a loaded Glock in his Chevy Malibu, prosecutors said. Amir Greene, 32, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on felony charges of armed violence, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, manufacture and delivery of ecstasy and cannabis, and unlawful use of a weapon. Greene is also charge with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Alsip police were on patrol around 9:25 p.m. Sept. 3 when the saw a silver Chevy Malibu violate a no-passing zone in the 3600 block of West 119th Street. The prosecutor said that the car continued to drive erratically when officers were able to pull the driver over. Officers asked the driver, later identified as Greene, to step out of the car, which police said carried a strong odor of burnt cannabis.

Officers said they found 194 individually packaged baggies of ecstasy under the driver’s seat. Also found in a black bag on the back seat was a sizeable amount of cannabis, krush, more baggies, a scale and a Glock G26 loaded with 16 rounds. The weight of the cannabis totaled 450 grams, the prosecutor said. Greene’s FOID card had also apparently been revoked.
