• Union: Mold found in Blue Island area schools poses risk to students, staff (chicagotribune.com) — Families in Alsip should know that mold and cleanliness problems have been reported in several District 130 schools, which include parts of Alsip. After custodial layoffs and outsourcing, unions and state officials say conditions pose health risks, while the school board acknowledges long-standing issues and delays in hiring new staff as community members push for rehiring custodians and immediate cleanup.
