Resurfacing Begins On Wireton Road in Blue Island

Motorists can expect delays. Work should be completed by late September.

BLUE ISLAND, IL -- The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that a resurfacing project on Wireton Road in Blue Island will begin, weather permitting, Monday, Aug. 7.

The project consists of resurfacing Wireton Road between 127th and Vermont streets, repairing curbs and gutters and cleaning the drainage system. Portions of sidewalk will be closed during construction, with parking restrictions on both sides of the road during working hours. The estimated completion date is late September.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
