Roadway Slumper Found With 51.3 Grams Of Cannabis In Toyota: Cops

Prosecutor said 19-year-old Alsip man has four pending burglaries.

ALSIP, IL -- An Alsip man found sleeping in his Toyota with the motor running and his foot on the brake, was arrested when police found 51 grams of cannabis in his vehicle, prosecutors said. Larnell White, 19, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on felony charge of possession of cannabis with intent to deliver. White currently has four pending burglary cases.

Around 4 a.m. May 14, Alsip police saw a Toyota stopped in the roadway at 122nd Street and Hamlin Avenue. As officers approached the car, they saw a man, later identified as White, reportedly fast asleep with his engine running and his foot on the brake. Officers said they could detect a strong odor of marijuana as they got closer to the Toyota. The prosecutor said police tapped on the car windows but could not awaken White. It wasn’t until officers reached into the vehicle to shut off the car when White finally woke up, the prosecutor said.

Officers found a large plastic bag filled with multiple baggies of cannabis weighing 51.3 grams. Inside White’s backpack was another bag of cannabis, a digital scale and packaging materials, the prosecutor said. White is currently on supervision for criminal trespass to a vehicle. He also has four pending burglaries out of Markham.
