Serial Bank Bandit Robs Alsip Bank: FBI

FBI believe bandit is responsible for five other robberies, all of them TCF Bank branches.

OAK LAWN, IL -- A man believed responsible for five other bank robberies struck again Thursday evening in Alsip, in what is being described as a non-takeover bank robbery, the FBI said.

Witnesses said the bandit entered the Alsip TCF bank branch located inside the Jewel-Osco store at 120th Street and Pulaski Road around 6:43 p.m. Once inside, he passed a note and fled the bank. He did not display a weapon, reports said.

The suspect is described as a male black in his late twenties to early thirties, 5-feet-9-inches tall, with medium build. He was wearing a dark colored baseball cap, red scarf, dark gray winter coat and dark colored pants. He’s kept his head covered during the alleged heists.

He’s believed responsible for five other robberies between committed between Dec. 12, 2016 and Feb. 16, 2017. All of the robberies were TCF Bank branches and many of them inside Jewel-Osco Stores:

  3. TCF Bank, 10203 W. Grand Ave., Franklin Park, 1:29 p.m. Jan. 16, 2017
  4. TCF Bank, 7122 W. 40th St., Stickney, 6:04 p,m, Jan. 30
  5. TCF Bank, 2128 S. Mannheim St., Westchester, Feb. 10, 2017
  6. TCF Bank, 12001 S. Pulaski Rd., Alsip, 6:43 p.m. Feb. 16, 2017

He has not yet been assigned a nickname by the FBI. Anyone with knowledge of the robberies or of the individual involved is asked FBI Chicago 312-421-6700. A reward is being offered.
