Sertoma Centre Hosts 'Heroes Cook-Off' Featuring First Responders
Sertoma Centre's family-friendly First Responder Cook-Off is hotter and spicier than ever Saturday, April 27, at 115 Bourbon Street.

ALSIP, IL -- Set your taste buds for Sertoma Centre’s Heroes Cook-Off on Saturday, April 27, featuring chef teams comprised of firefighters and police officers from around the Chicago area. The first responders will show off their unique culinary skills as they whip up some of their favorite dishes from 5 to 7 p.m. at 115 Bourbon Street in Merrionette Park.
First responder chef teams will create dishes from four categories, including chicken, chili, barbecue ribs and wildcard. The family friendly event features a special kiddoes area, including Magic Matt, a magician and balloon twister, KCP Designs face painters and Animals for Awareness, a local exotic animal rescue. Attendees will be able to sample delicious recipes prepared by the Chicago area’s finest and bravest. Burn off some of those calories on the dance floor to the rockin’ tunes from the Southside Hooligans.
Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online through noon Friday, April 26 or $20 at the door the day of the event -- April 27 -- at 115 Bourbon Street, 3359 W 115th St, Merrionette Park.. Admission includes 15 food tickets. Fifty percent of proceeds will be donated back to Sertoma Centre, benefitting the more than 1,700 individuals living with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities served by the organization.
