Sertoma Star Services Offers Free Online Mental Health Trainings Throughout May

Public invited to attend virtual sessions on suicide prevention, grief, anxiety, and depression in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, Sertoma Star Services is proud to offer a series of free online trainings open to the public throughout the month of May. The virtual sessions cover critical topics including suicide prevention, grief, anxiety, and depression.

Three distinct training programs are being offered:

QPR Suicide Prevention Certification

QPR — which stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer — is a 90-minute suicide prevention training that teaches participants to recognize direct, indirect, behavioral, and situational warning signs of suicide. Attendees will learn how to approach someone who may be suicidal, persuade them to seek help, and connect them to appropriate professional resources. This training also builds awareness of stigma and empowers participants to potentially save lives.

Tuesday, May 12, 6–7:30 p.m.
Thursday, May 14, 10–11:30 a.m.
Tuesday, May 19, 10–11:30 a.m.
Friday, May 22 9–10:30 a.m.

Mapping and Managing Your Grief Journey

This free online training is designed for anyone navigating loss — whether at the beginning of the grieving process or further along the journey. Participants will learn practical tools for mapping their grief experience and building sustainable coping strategies for day-to-day life.

Gen Z Discussions: Navigating Anxiety & Depression

This virtual discussion series creates a supportive, candid space for the Gen Z community to talk openly about mental health. Throughout May, sessions will explore healthy relationships alongside two of the most prevalent mental health challenges facing young people today: anxiety and depression.

Tuesday, May 26, 8–9:30 p.m.
