South Side Man Sells 9.3 Grams of Heroin to Confidential Source: COPS

Man sold heroin to confidential source working for Alsip Police Department, prosecutor said.

ALSIP, IL -- A South Side man was arrested after he sold heroin to a confidential police source, prosecutors said. The man has three other pending drug cases.

Mario Bell, 24, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. According to the charges, Bell sold 9.3 grams of heroin confidential source working for the Alsip Police Department around 3 p.m. June 13.

The prosecutor said $200 exchanged hands with the source. In keeping with a new policy from the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office, the prosecutor recommended an I-bond.

“I can’t in good conscience give a man with three pending drug cases an I-bond,” Judge Felice said. “The public would be outrages.”

Bail was set at $100,000. Bell is due in court July 10 in Bridgeview.
