Team USA Figure Skater Jordan Moeller and Friends Return to Southwest Ice Arena
Oak Lawn's Jordan Moeller and Team USA skaters donate time to put on ice show benefitting kids' cancer camps April 29 at Southwest Ice Arena

CRESTWOOD, IL -- Team USA figure skater Jordan Moeller is bringing his annual “One Skate At A Time” show to Southwest Ice Arena in Crestwood this Saturday, April 29. Moeller grew up in Oak Lawn and graduated from Richards High School. Demonstrating a talent early on for figure skating, Moeller trained as a teen on SIA’s ice. Now 22, he is training for a spot to compete in next year’s Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
Fans will be treated to an evening of spectacular skating featuring local skaters, national competitors and special Team USA guests. Moeller will be bringing two-time U.S. Champion Alissa Czisny, 2017 U.S. Nationals 7th place finisher in senior men Timothy Dolensky, 2015 NHK Trophy silver medalist and 2016 Rostelecom Cup bronze medalist Courtney Hicks and 2016 World Junior bronze medalist and 2016 U.S. junior champion Tomoki Hiwatashi. All of the skaters are donating their time and talents for this worthy cause.
Proceeds from “One Skate At A Time” will benefit Children’s Oncology Service Inc. in Chicago. COSI operates 11 different One Step Programs providing camp experiences for children with cancer. This is Moeller’s sixth ice show for COSI. As in past years, SIA owner Frank DiChristina is donating the ice for his former prize student.

“I actually found out about COSI through my high school algebra teacher, Deb Swanson, at Richards,” Moeller told Patch last year. “She had a niece who had cancer and was able to attend the camp.”
Last year’s show raised over $10,000 for COSI. Moeller said it costs about $1,000 to send a child to camp. “One Skate at a Time” has been able to send 44 children to camp over the past five years.

Moeller is a 2014 silver medalist in the U.S. junior level. He was preparing to compete in 2016 at the senior level when he was sidelined by a broken leg. This year he’s coming off his best season on the senior circuit, beginning with his top 10 finish at the 2017 U.S. Championships in Kansas City in January. He also represented Team USA at the Challenge Cup in The Hague in February where he earned his first senior international medal, finishing behind two-time Belgian National Champion Jorik Hendrickx to claim the silver medal.
“I was very excited to be able to get back on the international scene, especially after my performances in Kansas City. Challenge Cup was a great experience for me. Earning a silver medal was another great confidence booster for me after my injury last year,” Moeller told Figure Skaters Online. “I was especially proud of my free skate as I didn’t have the best start to my program, but I was able to get myself focused after a couple of mistakes and finish out my program strongly. It certainly made me excited to compete again this upcoming season.”
“One Skate At A Time” starts at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at the Southwest Ice Arena, 5505 W. 127th St., Crestwood. Tickets are $20 for adults, $12 for children 6-12, and free for kids 5 and under.
After the show, Moeller will head back to finished up his Spring semester at University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, where he trains and attends college.
