Three People Stabbed, Tased and Beaten in Alsip Home Invasion: Cops

ALSIP, IL -- Four men were charged after they forced their way into a home and attacked the people inside due to a domestic dispute, Alsip police said.

Abdullah Alkhatib, 37, of Bridgeview, appeared for a bond hearing on six Class X felony counts of home invasion. The other co-defendants were in court last weekend.

The prosecutor said that Alkhatib and the others forced open the front door of a home in the 12700 block of South Kenneth Avenue around 10:11 p.m. Jan. 19. One of the co-defendants was said to be upset about his ex-girlfriend dating another person.

Armed with Tasers and knives. The four allegedly tased and battered an occupant inside the home, Another occupant’s finger suffered a severe cut, and a third person was “beaten by the mob,” the prosecutor said.

Alkhatib’s attorney told the judge that his client had just been released from the hospital after being stabbed in the back, and still had a collapsed lung.

Alkhatib was in federal custody for 20 months for a drug charge in 2008.

Bail was set at $350,000. The judge said Alkhatib is to be on electronic monitoring and undergo random drug testing if he bonds out. He is also to surrender his FOID card and weapons to the Alsip Police Department

Also charged with six counts of home invasion were:

• Ashraf Gharib, Palos Hills
• Mohammad Alkhatib, Oak Lawn
• Yahya Jabbar, Oak Lawn

Their bail was set at $250,000 at a previous bond hearing. The three men remain on 24-hour electronic home monitoring.

Alkhatib and his alleged accomplices are due back in court Feb. 16 in Bridgeview.
