Alton tourism funding vote delayed to 2027 after public pushback (thetelegraph.com) — Alton officials have postponed a major vote on cutting tourism funding to the Great Rivers and Routes Tourism Bureau until April 12, 2027, after strong pushback from residents and business owners. The delay keeps current support in place while the city studies comparisons with nearby communities and gathers feedback, especially with big events like Alton’s 250th anniversary on the horizon.
   

2. Two Alton Men Charged in Locust Street Shooting (riverbender.com) — Two Alton men have been charged after a shooting last week in the 2200 block of Locust Street in Alton, with counts including attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery with a firearm. Police say the suspects were arrested in the St. Louis area and urge anyone with more information to contact Alton’s Criminal Investigation Division.
   

3. Man charged after multi-state crime spree (firstalert4.com) — An armed robbery at the Phillips 66 on East Broadway in Alton is part of what officials describe as a multi-state crime spree involving a stolen car. Police say evidence from the gas station robbery was recovered after the vehicle was used to force entry into another nearby business.
   

4. Edwardsville softball beats Alton to extend winning streak IL (theintelligencer.com) — Alton High’s softball team suffered a 14-0 home loss to conference rival Edwardsville, extending the Redbirds’ losing streak in the series to 25 games. Edwardsville broke the game open with big fourth- and sixth-inning rallies, while Alton managed just three hits in the Southwestern Conference matchup.
