• Choate workers' union files lawsuit to block state from gutting facility (news-gazette.com) — Choate Mental Health and Developmental Center in Anna faces a major downsizing, and the workers’ union has sued to stop the state from eliminating all psychiatric beds and most developmental disability beds. The lawsuit, filed in Union County Circuit Court, argues Illinois officials broke multiple state laws and warns that cutting services and jobs at Choate would severely limit mental health care access across southern Illinois.
