$1.6M State-Of-The-Art Culinary Lab Set To Open At Elk Grove High

Elk Grove Village is covering a good portion of the cost with a $750,000 grant.

ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL — A state-of-the-art culinary lab recently opened at Elk Grove High School. The $1.6 million project, made possible in part by a $750,000 grant from Elk Grove Village, "transforms culinary education" in the district, providing students with a hands-on learning environment that officials say rivals professional kitchens.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for Monday to mark the completion of the project. Guests are invited to sample delicious treats prepared by culinary students, offering a firsthand taste of the skills they are honing in the new lab.

The new culinary lab spans 2,309 square feet and is outfitted with top-tier equipment, according to Township High School District 214. It includes six gas ranges, commercial-grade ovens, mixers, dishwashers, griddles and other industry-standard tools.
