DES PLAINES, IL — Two armed robberies occurred within minutes of each other early Saturday in the parking lot at Rivers Casino. According to police, two suspects were involved in both incidents at 3000 S. River Road.

Police were called to the casino at around 2:48 a.m. for a report of an armed robbery. A preliminary investigation has revealed that two males, who were driving in a white Nissan Altima, were traveling through the parking lot five minutes before police arrived.

In the first incident, the vehicle stopped, and the two males, who were wearing ski masks, exited the car and approached a 32-year-old male from Itasca. The two reportedly pointed a gun at the victim's stomach and forced him to hand over his phone, which also contained his driver's license and two credit cards in the phone case. The males then re-entered the Nissan and drove through the parking lot.

About two minutes later, the car stopped near a second victim, a 57-year-old from Skokie. The two exited the vehicle, armed with guns, and confronted the victim, saying, "give me all your stuff." The victim placed his hands on his phone in his back pocket to keep the males from taking it. The males then reached in the victim's pockets, taking his wallet and approximately $2,000 from his pockets. The males then re-entered the vehicle and fled casino property.

Police said none of the victims were injured and the incidents remain under investigation.
