SCHAUMBURG, IL — A Schaumburg High School football player was hospitalized in critical condition after being injured during Friday night's game at Antioch High School, according to fire officials.
The Antioch Fire Department was called onto the field at about 9 p.m. during the game between Schaumburg and Antioch high schools to treat the injured player, CBS Chicago reported. Community High School District 117 Superintendent Jeff Feucht confirmed the player was from Schaumburg.
Because of the severity of the injuries, fire officials requested additional resources and ground transportation, according to the report.
The player was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville in critical condition and was immediately taken for a CT scan. No additional information about the nature of the injury was released.
As of Sunday morning, Schaumburg High School and Township High School District 211 had not posted a public update on the player's condition on the school's website.

Schaumburg High School is part of Township High School District 211 and competes as the Saxons. The school's football program is among 34 athletic programs offered at Schaumburg High.
