Area Track Teams Compete at State

The Mount Prospect boys track and field team finished 13th out of 74 teams at the state meet this past weekend in Charleston. 

Dave Kendziera, a senior at Mount Prospect High School, placed first in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles with a time of 37.28 seconds and placed second in the 100-meter high hurdles with a time of 14.23 seconds. 

Hersey High School finished 48th at the state track meet over the weekend. Hersey's 4x800-meter relay finished in fourth with a time of 7:48.94. The team included senior Ryan Kearns, junior Kevin Kovach, sophomore Kevin Ziegenhorn and senior Robert Somary. 

Andrew Philipose, a junior at Hersey High School, placed 17th in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 9:22.78. Buffalo Grove's Steven Salvano, a junior, also competed in the 3,200-meter run at state, finishing in 31st place with a time of 9:46.40.
