Arlington Heights: Bringing Back the Past
In this regular feature, the history of buildings and properties in town will be highlighted as we bring back Arlington Heights' past. Today we look at the south side of Campbell Street between Evergreen and Dunton in the late 1920's.
Campbell Street, in addition to the other areas around the railroad tracks, is where commerce began in the burgeoning village of Arlington Heights. The village was actually named Dunton until 1874.
Looking west on the south side of Campbell Street between Evergreen and Dunton in 1928, shops included Otto Jarling Meat Market, National Tea Co., a U.S. Post Office, Heidorn's Sweet and Eat Shop and Krause's Market.
Continuing toward Dunton Avenue was A&P Neumann's Barber Shop, Krause & Kehe Real Estate and Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co.
