Jackowski is survived by his parents, Piotr and Lidia, and his brothers, David and Sebastian. A GoFundMe page was created by the family Sunday to raise money for services for the teen. With a goal of $10,000, the campaign has earned more than $50,000 so far.
"Kamil was a warm hearted and caring brother and son," the online fundraising page stated. "He was an extremely hard worker and always kept a smile on his face, cracking jokes, making faces, and making those around him smile. He was a brilliant kid that had such a bright future. Unfortunately, he was taken too soon."

Jackowski is a 2016 graduate from John Hersey High School, where he played football and was named to the Daily Herald's All-Area offensive and defensive teams in 2015. An online petition to retire his No. 1 jersey has been started. At the University of Iowa, Jackowski was a pre-business major and a member of Sigma Chi fraternity.
Jackowski was found unresponsive at about 7 a.m. Sunday, April 30, in a room at Camden on the Lake Resort in Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. He was pronounced dead later at a nearby hospital. Jackowski was at the lake resort to attend Sigma Chi's formal over the weekend. Since his death, the university's Interfraternity and Panhellenic Councils instituted bans on all out-of-town formals and alcohol consumption at official events. The Camden County sheriff's office wouldn't speculate whether alcohol led to Jackowski's death.
