Arlington Heights Public Works department held its annual "snow day" Thursday to prepare to winter.

More than 50 snowplows hit the streets of Arlington Heights Thursday morning to gear up for winter.

Not to worry, snow is not in the forecast; plows took to the streets as part of the public works department’s annual “snow day.”

“We’re very proud of our crews,” Arlington Heights Mayor Arlene Mulder, “They really do a good job.”

For nearly 30 years, the Arlington Heights public works department has had their very own “snow day” to prepare for winter. “We keep learning on how to do it better year after year,” Mulder said, “They really take pride in what they do.”

The Mayor’s twentieth “snow day,” Mulder gave crews a pep talk just before drivers took out the plows to practice snow removal routes.
