Arlington Heights Ice Rinks Open

The temperatures have dipped low enough for outdoor skating.

We all know it's really cold out but the chilly temperatures do have one advantage: outdoor ice skating.

All of the Arlington Heights Park District skating rinks are currently open — as of Thursday afternoon — after park district staff spent the week building up the ice at the rinks, according to the park district's website.

With temps expected to stay well below freezing over the weekend before jumping into the 40s next week — the next couple days could be a great time to lace up those skates and hit the ice.

There is some snow in the forecast Friday, which could affect the ice skating surface for area rinks.

"... Parks Department staff's first priority is for snow removal and plowing of our buildings, parking lots and paths before turning our attention to the brooming and resurfacing of ice rinks," according to a Thursday update on the park district website.
