Arlington Heights Man Dies After Being Pulled From Chain O’ Lakes
The drowning occurred near the sandbar in Petite Lake.

Alcohol may be a factor in the drowning death of a 23-year-old Arlington Heights man who was pulled from the water while swimming at a sandbar along the Chain O’ Lakes Saturday evening, authorities said Sunday. A preliminary investigation shows the man did not know how to swim and went under the water in Petite Lake where the water was eight to ten feet deep, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. He was underwater for about two minutes before being pulled out.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Marine Unit was called to the sandbar at Petite Lake at about 5:05 p.m., according to the news release. The man was already out of the water and Marine Unit Deputies performed CPR on the man, and deployed an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) until paramedics arrived, police said.
The man was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where he was pronounced dead.
