Arlington Heights Residents Help Fight Emerald Ash Borer

A  50/50 cost-share program through the village has proven successful in helping to address Arlington Heights' emerald ash borer crisis, with as many as 1,600 properties participating between May 2012 through this past October, according to the Chicago Tribune.

As a part of the program, the village reimbursed $50 per parkway ash tree to homeowners who hired a licensed "pesticide applicator" to inject "an insecticide called TREE-age," according to the article.

The Chicago Tribune reports the village paid out a total of $110,000 in reimbursements during the course of the program, and residents in Arlington Heights are now requesting the village extend the program.
