Arlington Heights Students Earn National Merit Honors

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Seventy-four High School District 214 students, including a number from Arlington Heights, have been honored as National Merit Scholarship Finalists, Semifinalists or College Board National Recognition Program Scholars.

The National Merit Scholarship Program, conducted by National Merit Scholarship Corporation, is an annual academic competition for recognition and college undergraduate scholarships. The competition is open to all U.S. high school students who meet published participation requirements. Scholarship winners are chosen on the basis of their abilities, skills, and accomplishments.

District 214 National Merit Finalists from John Hersey High School are: Robert Borland, Evelyn Browning, Madeline Burda, Gabriel Dubowski, Elizabeth Ferrazza, Patrick Radoll, Charles Schmidt, Adam Stanhope, Colin Stanhope and Taylor Tracz. In addition, Danielle Ewing was named a National Merit Semifinalist.

District 214 National Merit Finalists from Rolling Meadows High School are: Meghan Paral and Hannah Pescaru from Prospect High School; and Lily Kim and Carter Power.

District 214 National Merit Finalists from Elk Grove High School are: Megan Shafar and Bernard Waters.

College Board National Recognition Program Scholars from Elk Grove High School are: Maximus Bellatti, Lana Hernandez, William McGarry and Aileen Saucedo.

College Board National Program Recognition Scholars from John Hersey High School are: Charlie Castro, Edward Dominguez, Ana Downing, Mia Drago, Olivia Elliott-Montgomery, Alex Galvan, Jack Genualdi, Tea Lang, Andangelo Roura and Matthew Sanchez.

College Board National Program Recognition Scholars from Prospect High School are: Nicholas Alicea, Daniel Boy, Jacob Grzesiak, Anika Knipple, Isabella Kowalczyk, Isabel Mantilla, Alexander Naveja, Katherine Naveja, Alejandro Rider-Leiner, Natalia Soro and Ray Tello.

College Board National Program Recognition Scholars from Rolling Meadows High School are: Desirae Aleman, Arwen Bare, Nicholas Galvan, Kaitlyn Hannon, Gage Lockley and Avery Miller
