Back To School: Arlington Heights 2021-22 School Calendar

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Back-to-school planning has already begun in Arlington Heights, with calendars available to help parents prepare for the first day in Arlington Heights School District 25 and Township High School District 214.

The first day of school for Township High School District 214 students in Arlington Heights is Aug. 11. Arlington Heights School District 25 students head back on Aug. 19.

Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change as the coronavirus pandemic nears its year-and-a-half point. A mix of in-person, virtual and hybrid learning is still possible in the Arlington Heights school districts. District 25 announced last month it will open its schools fully with all pre-pandemic procedures and activities.

In July, District 25 announced staff can individually determine if they will wear a mask, following guidance from the Illinois State Board of Education. The district also said parents of students in all grades, vaccinated or unvaccinated, can individually determine if their child will wear a mask while on school grounds. Masks are still required by all riders on school buses and in taxis.

On Wednesday, the Illinois Federation of Teachers and Cook County Department of Public Health announced its endorsement of guidelines from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Illinois Department of Public Health calling for universal masking in schools, regardless of vaccination status.

Arlington Heights School District 25

• First Day: Aug. 19, 2021
• Thanksgiving Break: Nov. 22-26, 2021
• Winter Break: Dec. 20-31, 2021
• Spring Break: March 21-25, 2022
• Last Day: June 3, 2022

Township High School District 214

• First Day: Aug. 11, 2021
• Thanksgiving Break: Nov. 24-26, 2021
• Winter Break: Dec. 20-31, 2021
• Spring Break: March 20-25, 2022
• Last Day: May 27, 2022
