District 214 Schools Well-Represented at DECA International Career Development Conference
Ten District 214 business education students competed among 16,500 at the DECA

Ten District 214 business education students competed among 16,500 at the DECA International Career Development Conference in Anaheim, Calif., April 24-27. Students, along with their advisors, gathered for several days of exciting competition in numerous events, and also participated in a variety of leadership and career advancing academies.
"Our 10 students were a great representation of District 214," commented Cathy Fortuna, who is Prospect High School's DECA co-sponsor, along with Paul Hennig. "It was an incredible experience to see our future business leaders of America competing."

Prospect High School--Mark Sandel (competing in Principles of Business Management); Neil Sheth (Principles of Finance); John Gemkow (Accounting Applications); Kevin McNally (Principles of Finance, top 20 finalist); and Anya Salnikova (Human Resource Management, top 20 finalist).
John Hersey High School--Carolyn Niersbach (Hospitality Services, top 20 finalist); and Amanda Mix (Hospitality Services, top 20 finalist). Hersey's sponsors are Dan Vesper and Bob Murphy.
