Parker Players Theater Company presents Jen Silverman’s The Roommate, a sharp, funny and unexpectedly moving comedy about friendship, identity and the possibility of starting over—at any age.
Sharon is recently divorced, living alone in Iowa and wondering what comes next. Enter Robyn, her new roommate: mysterious, unconventional and carrying a past that is decidedly more colorful than Sharon’s. As the two women become fascinated by each other’s lives, their unlikely friendship begins to challenge everything they thought they knew about themselves.
Sharon has spent a lifetime doing what was expected of her. Robyn has spent hers breaking rules and reinventing herself. But as each woman begins trying on pieces of the other’s world, The Roommate
asks a provocative question: Are we defined by who we say we are—or by what we choose to do next?
Directed by Kurt Naebig and starring Barrington residents Ann Field and Jennifer McHugh, The Roommate is an intimate, entertaining two-woman play filled with humor, surprises and genuine heart.
For anyone who has ever looked at their life and wondered, “What if I’m not finished becoming who I want to be?”

Comedian Paul&nbsp;Farahvar headlines a night of laughs at Hey Nonny in&nbsp;Arlington&nbsp;Heights.&nbsp;Come laugh the night away with Paul and some of Chicago's best comedians including Lauren Vino,&nbsp;Owen Damon and Katie Kincaid.www.paulfarahvar.comwww.instagram.com/paulfarahvarChicago based Comedian Paul Farahvar delights audiences with his unique, quick witted dry humor, centered on being a practical but aging bachelor and former litigator.&nbsp; After quickly becoming a staple on the Chicago Comedy Scene for years at his home club Laugh Factory, he began touring, first as a feature for headliners like Demetri Martin and Gary Gulman, and later as a headliner.&nbsp; With no manager or agent, he managed to build a following in multiple cities, even selling out rooms in Chicago, Rockford, Denver, Milwaukee, Scottsdale, Sarasota, St. Petersburg and Tampa. He has toured with Dusty Slay, Chris Franjola, Gary Gulman, Demetri Martin, Jason Salmon, Bret Ernst and Greg Fitzsimmons as their handpicked feature.
He was runner up in the Chicago Reader for Best Stand up Comedian in 2021 and was voted "Top 40 Up and Coming Comedians" in 2017.&nbsp; Prior to being a comedian, Farahvar was a trial litigator, also earning the "Top 40 under 40" honor in Illinois.&nbsp; His podcast SINGLES ONLY&nbsp; was accepted into to the prestigious SWSW in 2020 and was&nbsp;voted Best Podcast in Chicago (2022). He was a regular guest host on WGN Radio for years and played "Karam Haddad" on NBC's "Chicago Med."&nbsp; &nbsp;His Dry Bar special&nbsp;“Always a Groomsman" dropped in April, 2023 and his special “Middlewestern, Middle Eastern”&nbsp;with Helium Comedy Studios&nbsp;dropped in April, 2024. He has recorded two Nateland Comedy short specials and a Zanies special and was one of two Americans invited to the Halifax Comedy Festival in May, 2024.
As a touring comedian, he utilizes his platform to raise awareness for the Parkinson’s Foundation, a cause very close to his heart which his father suffered from. He has raised over $50,000 for Parkinsons Foundation in the last few years as well and thousands of dollars for other causes like Autism and Suicide Prevention. &nbsp;Never one to be complacent, Farahvar continually seeks ways to assert his creative talents as a host, writer and producer. &nbsp;In &nbsp;2024, he began the “Why Are You Awake” Podcast to bring attention to creatives and night owls like himself and in 2026 starts a new unique interview show called "Stuck with Paul” in an elevator.
