Caller Scams Resident Of $9K To Bail Daughter Out Of Jail: Arlington Heights PD Blotter

The victim withdrew the money and someone arrived at his residence to collect the money, according to police.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The following information comes from the Arlington Heights Police Department and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

Daniel Boyan, 61, of the 1500 block of N. Fernandez Place, Arlington Heights, had an out-of-state warrant, and was arrested prior to requisition at 6:14 p.m. June 18, in the 1500 block of N. Fernandez Place.

FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH COURT ORDER

Maroo S. Calabrese, 66, of the 1400 block of Robert Drive, Mount Prospect, had a warrant for failure to comply with a court order, and was arrested at 4:16 p.m. June 18, in the 2100 block of S. Arlington Heights Road.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL

Steven A. Macker, 61, of the 80 block of Aster Drive, Schaumburg, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, and was arrested at 12:39 p.m. June 17, in the 400 block of W. Algonquin Road. He was released and assigned a court date of July 15.

VIOLATION OF BAIL BOND

Billy Valentin, 67, of the 20 block of N. Dryden Avenue, Arlington Heights, had a warrant for violation of bail bond, and was arrested at 7:35 p.m. June 17, in the 20 block of N. Dryden Avenue. A future court date in DuPage County was to be determined at the time of the report.

THEFT

  • An N. Regency Drive resident reported at 10:10 a.m. June 10, receiving a scam phone call from an unknown person asking for $9,000 to get his daughter out of jail in another state. The victim withdrew the money and someone arrived at his residence to collect the money. The person was described as a Middle Eastern or Asian male, between 20 and 30 years old, that drove a white Toyota Prius.
  • A customer at Jewel, 1860 S. Arlington Heights Road, reported at 3:45 p.m. June 10, someone had stolen her wallet from her purse and subsequently made unauthorized purchases with her credit cards.
  • A resident in the 700 block of W. Rand Road called police to report that between June 11 and June 13, someone had stolen a JC Penny package from the main lobby.
  • A resident in the 200 block of N. Dunton Avenue reported that between 9:43 a.m. and 11:55 p.m. June 13, someone had stolen a FedEx package from the mailroom.

THEFT FROM MOTOR VEHICLE

A citizen reported that between 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. June 10, someone had entered her white Honda in the 300 block of S. Fernandez Avenue and stole her cell phone.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLE

A citizen reported that between June 9 and June 12, someone had keyed the rear driver's side of her Ford SUV in the 1500 block of E. Central Road.
