Area students from Arlington Heights are doing amazing things at colleges and universities across the United States.

Lewis Athletics Recognizes Local Students As Delahanty Award Winners

Lewis University student athletes were honored for their academic excellence on April 22 as 368 student-athletes received Brother David Delahanty, FSC Awards at the Convocation Hall on the Romeoville Campus. The Delahanty Award recognizes Flyers who have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher while balancing the demands of athletics and academics. Local students include:

  • Noah Kawaguchi, of Arlington Heights, was honored. The Mens Soccer team member is studying International Business at Lewis University in Romeoville.
  • Piotr Wymoczyl, of Arlington Heights, was honored. The Mens Volleyball team member is studying Business Administration at Lewis University in Romeoville.

Cherwin Joins Tassels Chapter Of Mortar Board Honor Society At UM

Caitlin Cherwin, of Arlington Heights, majoring in Biomedical Engineering, was among 58 rising seniors to join the Tassels Chapter of Mortar Board at the University of Mississippi. Mortar Board is a national honor society that recognizes college seniors for their achievements in scholarship, leadership and service, provides opportunities for continued leadership development, promotes service to colleges and universities and encourages lifelong contributions to the global community. Criteria for selection include a minimum GPA of 3.0 or top 35% of the junior class, whichever is higher, and a demonstrated commitment to scholarship, leadership and service.
The 2024 class of new members was initiated into the chapter on March 7, and the initiation ceremony featured remarks by Ole Miss alumna Jan Farrington (BAEd 65). A celebratory reception followed.
