College Credits: Arlington Heights Student Receives Awards At Emerson

Area students from Arlington Heights are doing amazing things at colleges and universities across the United States.

Anzalotti Honored During Marlboro Institute Awards Ceremony

Emerson College student Maria Anzalotti, of Arlington Heights, was honored during the Marlboro Institute for Liberal Arts & Interdisciplinary Studies year-end celebrations in Spring 2024, recognizing students for their achievements, which included Interdisciplinary Studies student awards and Honors thesis awards. Anzalotti, who is majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies and is a member of the Class of 2026, received two awards:

  • Ellen McCulloch-Lovell Prize: The Ellen McCulloch-Lovell Prize was established in 2015 in honor of Ellen's eleven years as president of Marlboro College. The Prize recognizes accomplishment and potential in writing across genres - including fiction, poetry, non-fiction, and creative non-fiction - and encourages emerging writers to keep developing their craft.
  • MacArthur Prize (1st place): The MacArthur Prize (established in 1973) is given in memory of brothers Robert '51 and John MacArthur, and their parents, John and Olive MacArthur, all founding members of the science program at Marlboro College. The contest for the prize is in the form of a question or challenge offered to the entire student community. This year's theme was "Attention"

McCabe Part Of Cornhusker Marching Band At University Of Nebraska

Delaney McCabe, of Arlington Heights, is part of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's 300-member Cornhusker Marching Band, which will make its 2024 football season debut Aug. 31 at Memorial Stadium with pregame and halftime performances at Nebraska's home opener against UTEP. McCabe, a freshman majoring in business and law, is a color guard member.
