College Credits: Arlington Heights Students Make Belmont U Dean's List

Area students from Arlington Heights are doing amazing things at colleges and universities across the United States.

Neher Competes In MSOE's Rosie Supercomputer Super Challenge

Alexander Neher, from Arlington Heights, was one of 47 students who competed and showcased their projects using the power of Rosie at the third annual Rosie Supercomputer Super Challenge. A Computer Science major, Neher's team took Second Place in the competition. Second place ($3,000 + 2 RTX 4090s): Mind over (Gray) Matter: Homologous Point Transform Applications to Brain Histology and MR Domains. Abagail Draper, Bart Gebka, Sonia Grade, Caleb Gray, Alex Neher and Mikolaj Sordyl. The record level of participants came with amazing projects all vying for the Super Challenge prizes that totaled $10,000 in cash, 10 RTX 4090s and 10 NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nanos. The competition asks students to solve an interesting problem, answer a difficult question, go beyond their course work or improve an existing process using Rosie, MSOE's Supercomputer.

Wengronowitz Named To Berry College Spring 2024 Dean's List

Tyler Wengronowitz, of Arlington Heights, was named to the Spring 2024 Dean's List at Berry College. The Dean's List honors students who posted an academic average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale while carrying a class load of at least 12 hours during the semester.

Belmont University Announces Spring 2024 Deans List Honorees

Belmont University recently released the Dean's List for the spring 2024 semester. Approximately 44 percent of the University's 7,338 undergraduate students qualified for the spring 2024 Dean's List. Local Arlington Heights students named to the list include:

  • Ashlyn Ryan
  • Molly Ryan

Emma Hager Named Chancellor's Scholar-Athlete At UW-Whitewater

Emma Hager, a Marketing major from Arlington Heights, and member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team, was one of 47 Warhawks who were recognized as 2023-24 Chancellor's Scholar-Athletes presented by Northwestern Mutual. Hager was recognized in a ceremony Monday at the James R. Connor University Center by Chancellor Corey A. King and Director of Athletics Ryan Callahan. To be recognized as Scholar-Athletes, student-athletes must have maintained a 3.25 cumulative grade point average or above through the end of the 2023 fall semester. Honorees must have participated in a varsity sport for two years, must be of senior academic status and must have accumulated at least 90 degree credits. Each Scholar-Athlete received a commemorative gift.
