Nebraska Awards Record 3,612 degrees In May Ceremonies

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln conferred a record 3,612 degrees during commencement exercises May 13 and 14. The 3,523 graduates are from 58 countries; 45 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico; and more than 250 Nebraska communities. Local students include:

  • Arlington Heights: Casey R. McLynden, Graduate Studies, Master of Business Administration.
  • Arlington Heights: Grace Maire O'Keeffe, College of Arts and Sciences, Bachelor of Arts.

Farber Earns Dean's List Recognition at Ohio Wesleyan University

Cassandra Farber, of Arlington Heights, has been named to the 2022 spring semester Dean's List at Ohio Wesleyan University. To earn Dean's List recognition, Ohio Wesleyan students must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale in all applicable classes.

Augustana College Choir To Tour Germany, Czech Republic

The Augustana Choir, under the direction of Dr. Jon Hurty, will perform in Germany and the Czech Republic during a tour May 24-June 7. The choir has six musical engagements during the tour, most at historic churches such as the St. Thomas Church in Leipzig, Germany, which is associated with several well-known composers such as Wagner, Mendelssohn and Bach, who is interred there. The group also will tour Schloss Sanssouci in Potsdam, the Monument to the Battle of the Nations in Leipzig, the Terezin concentration camp and memorial, Prague Castle and Karlstejn Castle. Sarah Stolarski-Galla Inducted into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi

Sarah Stolarski-Galla, of Arlington Heights, was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Stolarski-Galla was initiated at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Stolarski-Galla is among approximately 25,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership.

Ohio Wesleyan Inducts Farber Into Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society

Cassandra Farber, of Arlington Heights, was inducted May 6 into Ohio Wesleyan University's chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the nation's oldest academic honor society. The historic organization counts 17 U.S. presidents, 42 Supreme Court justices, and more than 150 Nobel laureates among its members.
