Construction Underway on Walnut Avenue

The street removal work will mean some residents will not be able to use their driveways.

Construction along Walnut Avenue will mean some residents will not be able to park in their driveways in coming day.

Street removal work began on July 7 and will be done in phases to minimize the amount of time residents will be out of their driveways, according to a village of Arlington Heights press release.

The first phase will be from Thomas Street to Olive Street and the second phase will be from Olive Street to Oakton Street.

“As the road removal process gets under way, residents located between Thomas Street and Olive Street should have their cars parked on adjacent streets that are not under construction,” according to the news release. “These residents will not be able to pull into their driveways until stone ramps have been installed.”

At the end of each working day, residents will have access to the street and be able to park in front of their homes.

“The street will be down to a stone base, so please be mindful of your neighbors and drive slowly to minimize dust and stones kicking up,” according to the news release.

Residents located between Olive Street and Oakton Street will still have access to their driveway at this time, but should refrain from parking on Walnut Avenue during the day while the contractor is working.

Residents will receive another construction notification prior to the start of phase two, according to the news release.
