Certain District 214 can replace gym class with a study hall, the Daily Herald reports.

Despite opposition from parents, teachers and union representatives, the District 214 school board voted to approve gym waivers, the Daily Herald reports. Next year, students in marching band or ROTC in Northwest Suburban High School District 214 can skip physical education and take a study hall.

The Daily Herald reports ROTC and marching band members join varsity athletes in 11th or 12th grade and students who needed to take a certain class to graduate who are already eligible for the waivers.
