District 214 Considers P.E. Waivers

Marching Band, Reserve Training Corps could be reasons for exemptions

Students in Northwest Suburban High School School District 214 could soon have more options exempting them from gym class for the year, the Daily Herald is reporting.

The school board is discussing whether to allow participating in an ongoing competitive marching band program, and enrollment in the school’s Reserve Officer’s Training Corp as reasons for exemptions. These would be added to the three existing exemptions already in place. The board will vote on the issue at its Oct. 18 meeting.
