ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — With current principal Eileen Hart set to retire at the conclusion of the school year, her successor has been selected. The Township High School District 214 Board of Education announced at its Thursday night meeting that Megan Kelly will begin in the role on July 1.

"I am beyond honored to be selected as Rolling Meadows High School’s next principal," Kelly said. "The Rolling Meadows administration and staff do a wonderful job of innovating and creating authentic learning experiences for their students. I can’t wait to join that work and collaborate with all stakeholders to find new ways to meet the needs of the Rolling Meadows community."

Kelly is currently the district's director of academic programs and pathways, overseeing the Career Pathways program, which consists of 40 unique career pathways. According to officials, Kelly also facilitates the district’s largest-in-the-state dual credit program and all academy, capstone and off-campus programs. She oversees the wide range of District 214 work-based learning experiences, including apprenticeships, internships and vocational training — an effort recognized by First Lady Jill Biden during her recent visit to Rolling Meadows High School.

Kelly also administers the district’s Summer Experience Program and the Practical Architecture and Construction Program in her current role.

“No one could be better prepared by breadth of experience and genuine caring for students than Megan to lead our superb team of educators at Rolling Meadows,” said Dr. Kenneth Arndt, co-interim superintendent. “She has played such a vital role in growing our Academic Programs and Pathways Program, and that experience will be invaluable in her new role.”

After beginning her career as a student teacher in Dublin, Ireland, and then teaching in Ohio for several years, Kelly joined District 214 as an English teacher at Prospect High School. She then served as a facilitator for the District’s Collaborative Interdisciplinary Curricular Initiative before being named Wheeling High School’s English and Fine Arts Division Head in 2010.

From 2014 to 2019, Kelly served in a dual role as associate principal for instruction and division head for physical education and health at Elk Grove High School.

Kelly earned her bachelor’s degree in Education from Kent State University and master’s in Educational Leadership from Concordia University.
