First Lady Visiting Students At Rolling Meadows High School Monday

Dr. Jill Biden, along with Biden Administration officials, will meet students in the Career Pathways program as part of a trip to Chicago.

ROLLING MEADOWS, IL — Fresh off the midterm elections, the Biden Administration is looking to spread its message regarding the economy and jobs during a visit to Chicago, scheduled for next week. On Monday, First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, along with U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, U.S. Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh, and U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona, will make a stop at Rolling Meadows High School as part of the trip. The visit coincides with the first day of National Apprenticeship Week.

According to the White House, Biden and the other government officials will meet with students at in the school's Career Pathways program at around noon, shortly after landing at O'Hare International Airport.

"It is an honor to be recognized by the White House as a national leader in the Career Pathways program," Superintendent Dr. David R. Schuler told Patch. "We look forward to showing the First Lady and cabinet secretaries the hands-on learning opportunities available to all of our students in 39 different fields of study. These real-life experiences help students make informed decisions about their career path before they graduate high school."

After the trip to Rolling Meadows, the First Lady will visit Aon in Chicago, in partnership with the Chicago Apprentice Network and the Business Roundtable, to highlight successful registered apprenticeships programs offering pathways to good-paying jobs.

The purpose of the trip, according to the White House, is to highlight the Biden Administration’s commitment to strengthening our economy and building pathways to good-paying jobs through registered apprenticeships and career-connected learning.

The Career Clusters and related Career Pathways programs at Rolling Meadows serve as an organizing tool for schools, small learning communities, academies and magnet schools to develop more effective programs of study and curriculum, according to the District 214 website.
