District 25 School Board Votes to Cut Mandarin Chinese Program
The program had been offered to fourth and fifth grade students since 2009, according to the Daily Herald.

Arlington Heights District 25 schools will no longer offer its Mandarin Chinese language program to fourth and fifth grade students following a vote by the school board last week to cut the popular second language option, according to a Daily Herald article.
The program cost the district $200,000 — about .28 percent of the district's total expenditures — and has been offered since 2009 with nearly 2,400 students participating during that time, according to the Daily Herald.
