District 25 Schools Pull Unpopular, Nutritious Lunch Choices From Menus

The district decided to nix some of its nutritious lunch choices this past month, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Menu items, such as grilled salmon, baked fish and black-bean burgers, have been pulled from the menu at District 25 schools after not enough students were eating the nutritious lunch choices, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Only about 40 percent of District 25 students have taken school lunches in recent years — and only 10 percent of those students chose the nutritious lunch options, according to the Tribune. The food program lost $60,000 last year, the Tribune reports.

The Arlington Heights District 25 Food Services website has more information on its food program.
