Felony Looting Among Charges For Arlington Heights Woman

The 31-year-old faces three felony charges in connection with looting Aug. 10 in Chicago's Magnificent Mile retail district.

CHICAGO — An Arlington Heights woman is accused of felony charges of looting, burglary and theft in connection with looting during the overnight hours of Aug. 9-10 in Chicago. Micaela Kimbrough, 31, tried to sell stolen merchandise, and was arrested Wednesday in the 2400 block of West North Avenue, according to the Chicago Police Department.

The stolen merchandise came from a store in the 800 block of North Michigan Avenue, police said.

The Cook County State's Attorney's Office told Patch that Kimbrough's bail was set at $10,000 during a Friday court appearance. Her next court date is Sept. 1 in Skokie.

Earlier this month, Chicago Police launched a first-of-its kind web page specially designed to identify people who took part in the Aug. 9-10 looting and unrest through downtown Chicago. Thousands of people converged on Michigan Avenue and nearby streets busting windows of businesses and leaving with armfuls of stolen high-end merchandise. More than 100 people were arrested that night.
